Vintage Amps in Austin
By: Johnny "Doc" Denton
Hey You Guys! My name is Johnny, I have been a professional musician for 35 years. My Luthier Ross "Slim-Tex" Jenning's of Jenning's Instruments in San Marcos turned me on to an "EXCELLENT TUBE AMP BUILDER" by the name of Jeff Williams.
Jeff has a Master's Degree in Electronics and has a Shop in the general area of "Slaughter Lane" in South Austin.
At present Jeff is working on my brand new Fender Blackface 65' Deluxe Reverb Reissue and he is completely "Point-to-Point Hand Wiring the Chassis Circuit Board" and adding a few other upgrades and refinements as well! You know something, (I) honestly don't see how Fender can claim the new line of "Reissue Amplifiers" to be exactly that... "Reissue Amplifiers."
Did Fender use "Printed Circuit Boards" in 1965 when they built the Blackface Deluxe Reverb? Answer: NO!
As expected, these Amps were ALL Point-to Point Hand Wired in 1965 ... pure quality as one might expect!
Well, I can tell you Jeff has a long list of satisfied Customers and I just wanted to pass this information on to all the other Musician's out there on Austin Craigs List that need an honest, knowledgeable Tube Amp Technician/Repairman. You can reach Jeff at "William's Vintage Amps" 1-512-589-9814 or go online to www.williamsvintageamps.com.
Thank you "Doc" for permission to re-post your austin.craigslist posting in the form of an article! We at ultimateguitartone.com love to promote the best of the best - especially here in beautiful Austin, Texas!
Williams Vintage Amps
Modified from Jeff's site:
Williams Vintage Amplification uses modern and traditional equipment in electronics design, debugging, and repair to work on tube amps. With his many years of experience, there are few tube amps which he couldn't repair or modify.
He works with old, odd, and modern tube amps and loves to convert PA Amps and to bring new life into old and worn amps. He really enjoys improving the tone and adding function and performance to traditional tube amps.
Jeff will mod and de-mod any tube amplifier you wish to mod. He will also offer opinions regarding these mods, especially when applied to traditional or valuable amplifiers.
Feel free to contact Jeff with any questions or comments. Jeff loves tube amps! Visit www.williamsvintageamps.com
From Williams Vintage Amps
I am an Electrical Engineer with 25 years of Engineering experience in Design Engineering. Long before becoming an Engineer I was repairing and retrofitting vintage radios and TVs and such, and was a decent technician. As an Engineer I have maintained my technician skills and continued my work in many areas of electronics work. I work on Vacuum Tube Amplifiers out of my shop because I Enjoy it! This is an extended hobby for me, so many times I can offer you a cost lower than most other shops. ~ Jeff Williams ~ Please visit www.williamsvintageamps.com now!
